Impact of Volume Viscosity on a Shock/Hydrogen Bubble Interaction

چکیده
We investigate the influence of volume viscosity on a planar shock/hydrogen bubble interaction. The numerical model is two dimensional and involve complex chemistry and detailed transport. All transport coefficients are evaluated using algorithms which provide accurate approximations rigourously derived from the kinetic theory of gases. Our numerical results show that volume viscosity has an important impact on the velocity distribution—through vorticity production— and therefore on the flame structure.

Study of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model
Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...

The study of bubble dynamics, especially the interaction of bubbles, has drawn considerable attention due to its various applications in engineering and science. Meanwhile, the study of the oscillation effect of a bubble on the emitted pressure wave of another bubble in an acoustic field which has less been investigated. This issue is investigated in the present study using the coupling of Kell...

Material deformation and pitting from cavitation bubble collapse is investigated using fluid and material dynamics and their interaction. In the fluid, a novel hybrid approach, which links a boundary element method and a compressible finite difference method, is used to capture non-spherical bubble dynamics and resulting liquid pressures efficiently and accurately. The bubble dynamics is intima...
متن کاملExperiments on Shock Induced Combustion of Isolated Regions of . Hydrogen-oxygen Mixtures
The interaction of a strong plane shock wave with isolated regions of gaseous mixtures was examined through a series of shock tube experiments. Specifically, the non-uniform mixtures examined consisted of a spherical bubble of pure hydrogen or hydrogen-oxygen mixtures surrounded by either an oxygen, nitrogen or air atmosphere. Shocks in the range of Mach 1.7 to 3.7 were studied. The interaction...

The effect of distributed bubble nuclei sizes on shock propagation in a bubbly liquid is numerically investigated. An ensemble-averaged technique is employed to derive the statistically averaged conservation laws for polydisperse bubbly flows. A finite-volume method is developed to solve the continuum bubbly flow equations coupled to a single-bubble-dynamic equation that incorporates the effect...
